So I feel emberrassed to say it, but I didn't run the 10k racefest. I was helping plan an engagement party that Saturday and had so much going on that I decided not to participate. I did however run a 5k in downtown Charlotte last Friday. It was cool because it was a twlight race, meaning that it was in the evening instead of early morning. Lets just say that I now know what they schedule races so early! It was so hot!!! It was 85 degrees at the start of the race. Michael ran it with me and we almost didn't make it because of the heat. I wasn't proud of my time (27 min.) because I knew I could do better. It was good to run another race though, since it had been so long.
So much of me really wants to train for a marathon. So much training and thought has to go into it though, so i'm not sure when the best time to train would be. You literally have to put your life on hold and pick a great race. I have a friend Hilary that is interested too, so we might decide to train together. Now i'll definetly be updating the blog if I decide to do this!!! We'll see what happens! I'll keep you posted :)
Begining running tips for motivation:
1.Sign up for a race as soon as you feel up to it.
2.Find a committed running partner. It is much harder to skip a run when you have someone else depending on you.
3. Remember that you will have plateaus in your progress and tough days along the way.
It gets easier.
4. Accept and appreciate the fact that not every single run can be a good one.
5. Be prepared to remove the words “can’t” and “never” from your vocabulary.
6. “Do not compare yourself to others. Run within yourself and for yourself first.
7. Don’t expect every run to be better than the last one; some of them will hurt.
8. Don’t think too much about it or you won’t do it.
9. Even a bad run is better then no run at all.
10. If you normally run with music try skipping it and listening to your feet to hear your pace and your gait.
11.Don’t be discouraged if you don’t experience weight loss immediately.
12. Start a running blog and read other running blogs regularly.
13. Running is not an excuse to triple your intake of doughnuts because runners gain weight too.
