I use to think that every time you go for a run, you should have a goal in mind. For instance, I always decide how many miles i'm going to run before I begin and the route that i'm going to take. I usually had to do this because I was training for some type of race. Last week, for one of the first times, I went for a run with no goal in mind. I just started running and just made up a route as I went and decided to run back home when I had enough. I found that this was really nice! I assumed that I wouldn't be motivated, if I didn't tell myself "you have to run 3 miles". I enjoyed running that day because it was more leisure instead of a pressure. I think it's good to incorporate these types of runs into your schedule. When you only run for a specific goal, it could be easy to loose the passion that you had before. Sometimes it's nice to just start running and not know exactly how it will turn out or where you will run. I don't recommend this for begining runners though, because I believe goals are what takes you farther in your training and helps increase how long you can go.

You know Jess, I seem to enjoy running these days :) I think you're right about the pressure thing, haha thought this might make you laugh! But really, I run a couple times a week now & guess who I think of every time I'm lacing my tennis shoes...yep Coach Jess
