"In this life we get only those things for which we hunt, for which we strive, and for which we are willing to sacrifice." - George Matthew Adams
I completed the 8 miles on Saturday, in wonderful weather. I'm not going to lie, the run wasn't so wonderful. It was going really well until the last mile. It wasn't that my endurance wasn't there to complete the run, but my leg muscles almost gave out. I finished all eight, don't get me wrong, but it was the toughest time i've had so far. I was almost scooting along for the last half mile because I could barely pick my legs up. What matters to me though, is that I finished and still under 10 minute miles. I think what might have made it tougher is that I need to start stretching more. A lot of times i'm so anxious to run, I only stretch for a few minutes. Most of why my legs hurt so bad during the run is that they were already getting sore. I am going to start streching a lot longer before I run from now on, plus i'm going to start icing my legs after as well.
This week will be interesting for my running. I got up and ran 4 miles this morning, which actually helped relieve my soreness. I'm going to need to run tomorrow and Wednesday, since i'm leaving for my company trip to Cancun on Thursday. I will be in Mexico from Thursday-Sunday. This obviously interupts my long run on Saturday. So I decided to take off work Monday to run my 9 miles. It's going to be tough taking a 4 day break from running and then doing the 9, but i'm hoping it will just give my legs some time to heal. With daylight saving time ending, most of runs are in the mornings now :( Thanks again for all of the support though!
You're inspiring!! Keep it up :)
